Before helping establish KISS as one of the 2015 top ten U.S. science and technology think tanks, she was an engineer assigned to work on various special projects throughout NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL). In 2009, Asteroid 185641 was renamed "Judd" in honor of her work at JPL.

Prior to JPL, Michele had her own consulting business and a twelve-year career at Mobil Oil, with positions in strategic planning, quality management, engineering and field operations.
